Beth Hart : La réincarnation de Janis Joplin ! / The Janis Joplin of this century!

Bien que découverte au début des années 90 grâce à la célèbre émission de télévision Star Search, Beth Hart a presque été oubliée par le public américain. "Nul n'est prophète dans son pays", me direz-vous... Son dernier album (37 Days), qui a remporté un succès outremer considérable, n'est même jamais paru en Amérique!

La puissante voix de cette chanteuse blues-rock-gospel est souvent comparée à celle de la légendaire Janis Joplin. (À mon avis, elle possède toutefois un bien meilleur contrôle vocal!) Il n'est d'ailleurs pas étonnant qu'elle ait jadis tenu le premier rôle dans le Off-Broadway "Love, Janis". Si le grand succès radiophonique L.A. Song est la seule chanson que vous ayez entendue de Beth Hart, vous vous devez d'explorer un peu plus en profondeur l'oeuvre déroutante de cette grande artiste...

Screaming for my Supper est probablement l'album le plus accessible (tout en étant de qualité!) que je puisse vous conseiller. Si vous préférez quelque chose de plus soul, à la limite du gospel, je vous suggère Leave the Light On, dont l'univers amène quelques assonances à Aretha Franklin.

If you want to buy her music and are looking for something accessible to begin with, I highly recommend Screaming for my Supper. If you want something more soulful, almost gospel, with some Aretha Franklin vibes in it, I suggest Leave the Light On.
